Junior Handling

We have a growing number of Junior Handlers at Trentbridge Ringcraft and it is good to see how well they are all doing.

All are at various levels in terms of competing from just starting out to taking part in the Junior Handling finals at Crufts 2008 - a great fete as you have to qualify for this throughout the year.

At Trentbridge Ringcraft we train both junior and senior handling on a weekly basis - so come along and get involved.

What is involved?

Handling Classes involve much more than just presenting your dog for the judge, you are also judged on how you dress, your knowledge about the dog you are showing and how you handle the dog through various exercises including figure of eight, traingles and T's to name but a few.

Each competition may be slightly different but in all it is those who have built a great relationship with their dog that shine through.

Classes in Competition

Generally handling classes are split into the following groups but this can differ depending on the Society running the show.

Junior Classes
6-11 Years
12-17 Years

Adult Classes
18-30 Years
30+ Years

Congratulations to

Scarlett who was placed 5th in Junior Handling at Derbyshire Open Show

Angela who was placed 3rd in Adult Handling at Derbyshire Open Show

Pheobe who won her Junior Handling Class at the Northern Counties Shetland Sheepdog Club Show.

Bobby Dale and her Manchester Terrier Diesel who competed in the 6-11 age group junior handling finals at Crufts 2008.  A considerable achievement for Bobby as she had only been competing and showing for 18 months.
